Bureo is excited to partner with Trek to incorporate NetPlus materials into their best-selling water bottle cage. The BAT CAGE is now made from recycled fishing nets and this year alone will put 44,000 square feet (3,850 pounds) of discarded fishing nets to good use -- yielding a cleaner way to carry water.
For the last 22 years, Trek has manufactured hundreds of thousands of Bat Cages in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, 30 miles from the company's headquarters in Waterloo. The cage has crossed the finish line of more grand tours, World Cups, and Spring Classics than anything else made by the brand. The cage is simple, light, and durable—and now there's a lot more to love about it.
We were introduced to Trek through our membership with NextWave, a cross-industry consortium of partner companies that are committed to keeping plastics in our economy and out of our oceans. Since 1976, Trek has fostered a culture of craftsmanship, where every bicycle built is a point of pride. Trek is now making a difference for our oceans, and the Bat Cage is just the beginning.
